My wife Katie and I have three kids Cole, Ella, and Ardyn, and a dog named Boomer. I was born in Clinton, Oklahoma in 1985 and relocated with my parents to Brownwood, TX where they attended Howard Payne University. After graduating from Early High School, I attended Tarleton State University for a year, then enlisted in the Air Force Reserves stationed at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX. After 8 years in the reserves I headed north to become a member of the 136th Texas Air National Guard, where I currently serve. In 2014, I received my Bachelor’s in Administrative Leadership from the University of Oklahoma. I was a co-founder of Truth Renewed Ministries in Keller, TX which brought me into contact with ACF. Since beginning our partnership with ACF, I have been able to help in the Outreach/Missions Team, The7 Young Adults Ministry, Upward Sports, and the funeral ministry. These areas of serving led me to become the Community Impact Coordinator, and I am currently pursuing my Masters in Divinity through Liberty University.
If you were an animal what type of animal would you be and why?
This one is a no-brainer! I would be an owl… whooo? An owl… (see what I did there?) Not only does is provide me an endless supply of dad jokes, but what a stoic animal. Wise, graceful, and beautiful… these animals are a wonderful example of God’s creation.
What do you love best about ACF?
When my family and I first started attending we noticed from the very beginning that “authentic” wasn’t just a word used in the mission statement. Authentic was an action. We couldn’t help but notice people clothed in authenticity, who care for one another and, most importantly, the authenticity of the Gospel.
What was your favorite cartoon growing up?
Growing up we watched more sitcoms than cartoons;however, the one movie I’ve always loved was “Balto”! If you haven’t seen it…spoiler alert! The story revolves around an outcast “half dog/half wolf” saving an Alaskan village by defying all odds, including his lack of self confidence, to achieve what only he could. Come on over and we’ll watch it together!
What are you listening to right now on iPod/mp3/radio/Walkman?
I’ve got two artists/groups playing right now. First, I’ve got all the Needtobreathe albums on a loop! My wife and I try to catch them every time they’re in town. Next, I love the local kid, Leon Bridges. His gospel soul makes me think of Tim Bach on the ivories!
